Our Passion for Community Engagement

ECM management is passionate about the development of PNG and working with local communities to achieve shared objectives.

We value the opportunity to work with a diverse range of stakeholders across PNG and the positive experiences and long term, positive impact that our sustainable energy solutions bring to these communities.

We apply an ‘Engage-Build-Operate-Transfer’ (EBOT) approach to our engagements, which provides an ethical framework for conducting business in local communities in a way that is mutually commercially and socially beneficial. The EBOT model does not see community engagement as a separate function of our business; rather it informs our broader business processes and is central to our operating philosophy.

The ECM Apprentice Program

ECM has received certification from the National Apprenticeship Training Board of Papua New Guinea paving the way for the commencement of its new apprenticeship program.

Based in Port Moresby, the electrical apprenticeship program will run for a four-year period and see ECM provide practical on-the-job training and on-going support. During the program, apprentices will have the unique experience of developing new skills while getting hands on experience working across a range of different ECM projects.

The program, which will expand each year with a further intake of apprentices, will help upskill the local PNG labour force and address the shortage of technical skills which currently results in many expatriate staff filling these positions.
